flat loaf

Christmas is coming. Here is a tasty suggestion – a knitted flat loaf.

For this home-made flat loaf you need about a kilo of flour, 20 gr. fresh yeast, a teaspoon of sugar, a teaspoon of salt, butter (or lard), 400 ml cool water and mixture of ground dried herbs (you can put marjoram, thyme, rosemary and others). Put the crashed yeast with the sugar in the cool water and add 2-3 soupspoons of flour. Leave the mixture to bubble. Do a well in the flour; add the salt and the liquid mixture, which has already bubbled. Knead soft, no sticking and elastic dough. Leave the ready flat loaf dough to rise till it doubles its volume. After that, divide the dough into three approximately equal parts. Roll every one on a sheet 0, 5 cm in thickness and coat with soft butter. Sprinkle with the ground dried hers or spices you like. After that, roll every sheet. Knit the three rollers like a plait. Coat a round cake form with oil and put the plait there. Cover with a cloth and leave to rise again for 15-20 min. After it has risen, coat the ready for baking flat loaf with some butter and sprinkle a little of bread-crumbs. Bake in a preheated oven to 180 degrees till readiness. This knitted flat loaf becomes extremely tasty and sweet-scented and it’s suitable as well for your family, and to receive your guests.
